Saudi aid to Gaza Strip

Saudi Arabia has announced an emergency aid of 200 million riyals ($ 53.3 million) to victims of the Israeli bombing in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military campaign continues Monday for the seventh consecutive day.

Saudi Minister of Finance Ibrahim al-Assaf was quoted as saying late Sunday by the official SPA news agency as saying King Abdullah ordered the aid which is intended for the Palestinian Red Crescent in Gaza. According to the Saudi Minister, the aid is “to cover the most urgent needs for medicines and medical equipment.”

Israeli bombardments have so far killed some 200 Palestinians and more than 1000 injured. An extensive damage was caused to the infrastructure in the Strip. The United Arab Emirates announced Thursday it will help the Palestinians with an aid of $52 million to the residents of Gaza Strip.
