On Wednesday, Saudi Arabia donated US$100 million to the United Nations to support the fight against terrorism and urged other countries to do the same. This donation takes place after another Saudi donation of us$500 million to contribute to UN efforts to help refugees besieged by jihadists in Iraq.
“We’ve been bitten by the demon of terrorism,” the Saudi ambassador in Washington, Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, told reporters.
According to Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki-Moon, those countries that have not been stung by terrorism seem somewhat lax when it comes to dealing with terrorism seriously, he said during the presentation of the donation. United States, Germany and Britain also made donations to the UN Counterterrorism Center.
